SINSPHERES

An experiment in computational modeling, these 3D studies are derived from a primitive sphere object.

The sphere was distorted using a sine function to create a variety of exotic forms. To explore the characteristics of these “sinspheres”, multiple outputs were chosen and 3D printed. As physical objects the underlying math receded and the abstract qualities emerged. Due to their complexity, a wide variety of distinct forms could be captured from a single sinsphere model. Here are nine photographs of three printed models at different angles. The transformative nature of the forms viewed at different angles, sheds light on their inner character.
