Ostranenie is the Russian Formalist term for estrangement in order to enhance awareness of the familiar. In this case, the film-making process was studied and then deconstructed into an experimental mechanism. The object is proportional to the human body, designed for the human hand. Using an analogue dolly system, a small camera was guided through a series of rooms, generating a looping tracking shot. Instead of attempting a preconceived visual, the design and construction of this film set generated the style. The final visual and process footage were displayed simultaenously on opposite walls of the gallery.
