MAKER

The initiative behind a makerspace is to open-source creative technologies to the public. This group project, located in Homewood a neighborhood of Pittsburgh, PA, attempts to benefit the community through a creative environment suitable for all ages. The spatial concept is a below-grade main floor, with green-roof canopies acting as a recreational public-space for community enjoyment. The canopy creates an inside-outside dynamic, one being an educational institution, the other being a public park. The reason behind this method was for the sake of community. Due to the lack of park-space in Homewood, the green canopies attempt to be an exciting entryway to a creative space below it.
