DOMUS

This group design/build project is centered around new ways of exploring urban gardening. Octopus Garden was the location, an abandoned lot turned community garden in the township of Garfield, Pittsburgh, PA. An 8’x4′ flower bed in need of a greenhouse was the starting point.  From there, iterations took place. Digital fabrication techniques were employed to develop the structural forms, while keeping the quirky nature of the gardens established by the community. A bench was included in the design to further emphasize a communal gathering location coupled with the personal initiative to grow and harvest.
